I'm in Portland for a few days developing a potential project. Currently I'm sitting at a table looking at Mt. Hood out of one window and Downtown Portland out the other. Yesterday it was about 55 degrees which, compared to Michigan, feels like about 70 degrees. I've never been so happy to be in a t-shirt and sunglasses; quite the reprieve. Within a stone's throw of the condo there is an 'actual' bakery, 2 great local coffee shops, a Vietnamese, Italian & Thai restaurant, a library, and a Mid-Century Modern furniture showcase gallery. So I ask myself...
Why don't I live here?
There is an amazing community feeling here in Sellwood. Yesterday we ate at Genie's for breakfast which was phenomenal. Everywhere you look is a great pub with local and regional brews such as Horse Brass. And of course, Powell's Book Store. And not to mention the Pinot Noirs of Willamette valley which is pretty close to where we are now. There's just something everywhere... even if it's nothing, it seems like something in Oregon.
I should probably get out more.
