Today is my birthday! If you remember we announced we were pregnant with Viola on my last birthday! Well, folks...
Just kidding! We're not pregnant!
Can I just say how much I love October?! The weather is incredible, ArtPrize in Grand Rapids, the Cubs are dominating the Playoffs, chaider at Sparrows, my birthday, and we haven't even made it to Halloween yet where my girl's costumes (already purchased) will dominate!
Lori reminded me this morning my Jesus year has indeed ended. But I'm totally fine with it considering it was the year I determined (and have begun) writing my book. That is something I've wanted to do for the past six years and I'm so glad it's actually happening.
So this morning Lori gave me something I've been wanting forever. A new selvedge denim apron from Detroit Denim Company. So excited to put this into my daily rotation of cooking for the family. In fact, in my card she reminded me that 34 symbolizes the power of realization of the man, serves as a latitudinal axis of the earth, the age of St. Peter at his death, one of the 'magic numbers' in Physics, the jersey number for Nolan Ryan, Shaq, Walter Payton and, to negate all of this great stuff, the title of a random Dave Matthews Band song.
Every year I have the same feeling on my birthday. I remembered my youth where I hated the idea of growing older. I always wanted to be young and fresh. But since this cancer showed up, I love getting older. Spending more time with my love, Lori and my two nuggets, Marian and Viola, is the best thing that has ever happened to me. So I am happy to declare I am 34 years old and will welcome aging for as long as I am able.
Tonight we have tickets to go see Stars, a band that I've been in love with for I don't know how long. Plus, Lori and I have moved our lunch date from Friday to today. So today is shaping up to be a great day despite waking far too early to deal with the kiddos. Maybe an afternoon nap is in order.
Overall, I just wanted to say thank you to each of you. For whatever reason, it seems like the birthday is the day when all of the random people involved in your life pop up to say a quick hello.
I truly love you all!
